Still no word

I c

This has been a pretty good week of training. I am glad to be back at it and having a regular schedule of training. I donated blood on Wednesday and mis-calculated the impact. On Thursday morning I went to swim class. I was able to swim the whole workout but I felt real sluggish. I felt like I was dragging bricks around with me. I made sure I ate really well during the rest of the day and worked on getting recovered. That evening I had to drop out of core class and spin class. I made it half way through core and just could not handle it. Again I felt really heavy and could not cut it in the class. Oh well, I am not worried about it,, just a minor setback.

This weekend was really cold. We were supposed to ride for 60 miles but due to the weather, we took it indoors. Sitting on a bike, indoors, spinning for 3 hours is one of the most boring things you can imagine. Basically, you sit, you pedal and you watch videos, or listen to music. There is one good thing about spinning indoors,, I can have coffee while I ride. I had a cup of coffee where I usually carry a water bottle. It fits in the holder perfectly. I was able to concentrate on my pedal stroke. Consequently, my hamstrings are really sore today. Today we were set to run for 12 miles on the trails and in the greenbelt. I was really looking forward to this but for some reason,, was not able to run very well. I want to think that it is due to donating blood but I cannot blame that for everything. I think my diet is all messed up. I am running out of energy after I work out for a short time. This is something else to work on over the next week or two.

I was really wanted to run the greenbelt and am sorry that I did not make it. The greenbelt trail follows Barton Creek and weaves in, out and across the creek as it makes it way upstream. If not for the occasional glimpse of a house, the traffic noise and some familiar landmarks, you could imagine yourself being out in the middle of the nowhere. It is very pretty up there and a nice run. I think the next time I go for a run and it turns to crap, I will just cut it short rather than slogging my way through the 10 miles. I am always learning something.

Onto the memory card…

I checked the web site, www.ifoundyourcamera.com , to see if they posted my entry for the memory stick and it is not up yet. No word from the Craigslist ad. Meanwhile, Inspector Gadget, has been sifting through some clues. I found the church where the wedding was held in one of the pictures. I have the name of it and it is in a city near New Orleans. I used a couple of cool internet sites. First, from the picture, I could see the name of the church and the pastor / reverends name. Using the net, I searched for churches with the same name and a pastor name that matched. Luckily, I found one in Gaston LA. I then used Google maps with the street view to see of the picture from the camera was close to what the Google view was and they are the same. So, now I have a church, a wedding, and a date (again, hoping the date and time of the camera are correct), I can write the church and see if they can help. Before I do that,, I just thought of something, I am going to take some of the pictures and try to see if the date times are set correctly. There are some pictures that I can get dates from and match them with a holiday or event. Christmas, the inauguration, Mardi Gras, etc.

Memory Card Update #1

I took two actions to start the process of finding the owner of the memory card. I posted a "Lost and Found" item on the Houston Craigslist community. A bit of a long shot but worth a try. Then, thanks to Gordon, I emailed and entry on http://ifoundyourcamera.blogspot.com/. This site is an amazing idea. It is a Blog that is a clearinghouse for found cameras. I picked out several pictures from the memory card and emailed them to the site. My entry should be up there on Saturday.

I have started scanning through the 1300 pictures on the card, looking for clues. I have found some that might help, things like a church name, a wedding at the church and the pictures are date / time stamped. If, the clock on the camera is set properly, then I should be able to contact the church and see who was wed that day. Before I go that far, I want to go through all the pictures and see if there any more obvious clues.

Thanks for the Memory,,, all 2 Gigs worth

So, at the starting line of the Houston Half-Marathon, Kelly and I were standing in the starting chute for the black wave. Standing around and waiting for our wave start. Kelly, who is running her first half-marathon, noticed a memory card lying on the ground. Once she pointed it out, we just stood there looking at it, like we were not sure what to do with it. I picked it and checked it out,, it looked good, no damage, so I stashed in my pocket. My thought was that I scored a 2GB memory card. When I got home and checked the card out, I found that it was full, all 2GB of it, with pictures from all sorts of events. Several weddings, a funeral, company parties, Christmas, the Obama Inauguration, a graduation, cosmetology classes, and lot's of house parties.

I could not bring myself to just erase these memories so I could get me a memory card that I could probably get for less than 20 dollars. So, I have taken on the silly task of finding the owner of this memory card. I plan to go through the pictures and look for clues. I did a quick glance of the pictures and I found a few clues.

  • The memory card looks like this picture
  • The owner is most likely Black, or all their friends are Black
  • The pictures were taken with a Canon Powershot A630
  • The pictures were taken from 12/17/2006 to 11/29/2009
  • The owner is female and most likely from Louisiana
  • The camera was at a holiday party 12/17/2006 for Holmes Construction LLC, where "The Best Client is a Satisfied Customer". IMHO - The party looked like a bust,, lot's of empty tables.
  • Baby Shower for "Baby Alexander" on 8/19/2007
  • She likes to take pictures of her clothes and shoes.
  • Someone in her circle of friends likes to use his fingers to pose little bunny ears on people when their pictures get taken.
  • Someone got a Foreman grill and a puppy dog for Christmas in 2008.

So, I have a lot of pictures and some video's to wade through but with the help of the Internet,, Geek CSI will prevail. As I find clues, I will post them out here. In the meantime, if any of the four people who follow this Blog, know a Black woman from Louisiana who owns a Canon Powershot A630, works for or knows someone who works for Holmes Construction and who attended the inauguration, please let me know. One other clue in a video, I think her husband or boyfriend is named "Big Dumbhead"

Finally a purpose

No doubt, you can tell that I have been long gone from this Blog. It has been my intention to get back into journaling again but have not been able to get my ass in gear and start writing again. I even put it down as one of my New Year resolutions. I have had a terrible time, making myself take the time to write. It is not a huge investment in time; I have not been motivated to write. I think of subjects all the time, I just never sit down and write. I think I finally have something to drive me to write. If this does not work, then it is just not in my nature to publicly write, which is unfortunate because this is something I thought I wanted to do. So anyway, there are two things that have sort of pushed me into re-awakening this Blog.

  1. Mom – I think it would be interesting for her to see some of my writing. Not sure why,, maybe it will put her in touch with my activities and ramblings. On the other hand it may scare the crap out of her when she reads what I think about.
  2. A Quest - A week ago at the starting line of the Houston half-marathon, I found a 2GB Memory card lying on the ground. This past week, I plugged the card in with the thought of making it mine, but what I found was a memory card full of actual memories. This card is full of pictures from all sorts of family events, parties, the inauguration, Mardi gras and some just ordinary activities. I could not bring myself to erase the card. I have taken it on as a quest to perform a Geek CSI and find the owner of this card. I am going through the pictures, looking for clues. Trace the clues to find the owner. So I will write about the activities surrounding the SANdisk search.

There are plenty of other reasons to Blog but those will be my motivators for now.
